Kadala Curry

  1. Kadala: 1 cup
  2. Onion: 1
  3. Tomato: 1 small
  4. Turmeric powder: ½ tsp
  5. Chilly powder: 1 tsp
  6. Coriander powder: 2tbsp
  7. Garam masala: ½ tsp
  8. Salt: needed
  9. Coconut grated: ½ cup
  10. Curry leaves: few
  11. Shallots: 8
  12. Oil: needed
Method of Preparation:
·        Soak kadala for 8 hours.
·        In a pressure cooker add kadala, onion, tomato, turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder and salt.
·        Close the lid and cook till 3 whistles come.
·        In a pan add 1tsp oil; add grated coconut, 4 shallots, curry leaves and garam masala.
·        Roast till it turns brownish colour. Grind this into a smooth paste.
·        Add this coconut paste into kadala curry. Stir well till it boils and switch off the flame.
·        Heat oil in a pan; add chopped shallots, when it is brownish red, add curry leaves. Add this to the prepared curry.
